Remember the words of Samuel Adams: "It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."
I hate war - I have been in one, and it is not fun (Desert Storm was a cake-walk compared to what our troops are going through right now), but it should never escape the mind of Americans that it is sometimes necessary. It doesn't matter what has happened in the past. The fact is that we are there, and we need to be in full support of our government for the sake of freedom; ours and the Iraqi's, because if the enemy is not defeated there, we will be fighting them with the help of our own children in our own back yards. We have too much at risk to be bickering and pandering in hopes of winning a seat in the "Big Boy chair".
When did politics take precedence over the security of our nation? My personal opinion is that it began during Carter's term, but that is beside the point - we, as a whole need to look at the big picture.
The political arena makes me sick when I look at the poor motives displayed by the opponents of our nations president. It doesn't matter if you love him or hate him, his position demands respect; he is th ePresident of the United States of America for crying out loud. Yet even in time of war, politics are driving every major decision taking place in the House and Senate, from condemning Turkey's actions a hundred years ago, to visiting the leaders of enemy nations. It is despicable.
We have let down the very people who are fighting over there if we do not stand up and take hold of victory - think about it.
...stepping down off of soapbox.
