I love listening to Rob Skiba. The guy is funny, informed, and not afraid to look into even the most controversial topics (If you don't know what I'm talking about, go see his channel, and when you do, keep an open mind).
We need more people who are Torah observant, and normal. Rob is pretty normal. He didn't change his name to Ya'kav Ben HaSkiba when he learned about Torah's validity. He doesn't start every show with a shofar's blast. He can bring a message without immediately turning people away, and we need more of that. Not that there is anything wrong with a person using their Hebrew name, or blowing the shofar, but come on, ...every time? The Messianic / Hebrew Roots movement is written off usually within the first few seconds. My own experience in looking for credible teachers over a decade ago lead me to a bunch of people dressed like Moses with names I couldn't pronounce. If was a little intimidating, and a bit silly to be honest.
In comes Rob, all these years later, bringing great teaching with a bit of familiarity.
Ok, so my 17 year old used his own money earlier this year to purchase an iPhone 6s. It cost him a salty $700.00.
Two days ago, he saw a post on Facebook that promised a "retro look" if he changed his date to 1 January 1970. I couldn't get angry with him because he bought the phone with his own money, and to be honest, I would have done it myself. I mean, who wouldn't want a retro look on an iPhone 6s?
So, I am posting this to say that we did find a fix after much research; reading through YouTube comments, and avoiding the "trolls" who think it is funny to spread this sort of stuff.
Forst, here's what we tried that didn't work.
the DFU Restore did not work
pluging into a laptop and attempting to connect with iTunes didn't work
Cussing the phone and getting irritated... didn't work.
pressing the power, up volume and home buttons, blah blah blah. Did not work.
putting another SIM card in. No help at all.
letting the battery run all the way out? We waited for almost an entire day for that last tiny red sliver of battery to go away and it never did.
I know that I will catch flack for not posting a video that proves that we had success, but I am not about to try doing it again. I can tell you with absolute confidence and truth that we did have success though.
My oldest son works on phones as a side business, and tonight he took it apart and unplugged the battery and let it sit there, unplugged, for about five minutes. When he plugged the battery back in and tested it, it booted up with no issues what so ever. Honest truth.
So there you have it. If you are here because you fell for the same gag, you are in good company.
I hope you have the same success that we had.
P.S., I am still waiting on the Ubuntu phone to come out. What the heck happened to the Kiskstarter? Good grief, it can't take that long...
Another week, another ridiculous amount of media concerning terrorism, elections, and the general moral decline of the world. ...Is anything good happening out there? The answer is Yes. In fact, the state of the world itself is, in a sense, "good."
Let me explain. We are all waiting for something. Some are waiting for the next ______, while others wait for _____. Believers in Yeshua (Jesus) should be waiting for His return, and with His return comes a series of trials and tribulations on earth. By default, the more tribulations, the closer we are getting, right?
I listen to a Torah teacher who says, "when I was a young Christian, I knew everything there was to know about prophecy." Obviously that was tongue in cheek - I was the same way. I used to have a time-line, and an explanation for why it was gong to be this way or that. The problem is that all these years later, I was terribly wrong about most of my predictions. I am not alone though; most folks who have told us how it was all going to end have been wrong. Remember Harold Camping? I could probably come up with at least 88 reasons why we shouldn't make time-lines and predict days...
A good friend of mine once told me, "I can prove that it's [the rapture] pre-trib and I can prove that it's post. That doesn't matter. What matters is that Jesus told us to abide in Him. Are you doing that? If not, then start now. If you are, well, you don't have a thing to worry about do you?" Excellent advice. Being as "abiding in" applies to the present, it turns out to be timely advice. Abiding in Him is still the answer to those anxieties we may get concerning world events. Abide in Him. "But the whole world is messed up!" Abide in Him. "They want to take our guns!!" Abide in Him!
As the world gets darker around me, I want that Light in my dwelling place, and if I am abiding (dwelling) in Him, I will have it.
So get up. We don't have time for wallowing, bickering and fretting. Get back up, because He is coming again. Get excited, because He's coming again. He's coming again...

What is new, what is new... I figured that I should start blogging again, seeing as the election year is upon us. The last time I was active on this site during an election year, I was getting around 6500 views a day, and enough death threats to make me want to back off. Why the death threats you might ask? I had the audacity to post the current president's Illinois voting record. Just the facts. Evidently that's all it takes anymore.
So why come back now? Good question. I think that today, more than ever, the news we get from mainstream media is even more fake and biased that we could have imagined in 2008. If you just scratch the surface - research even the slightest bit, you will find discrepancies, inconsistencies and pure fiction in the stories we all get from the big news outlets. I wonder if just maybe, one more voice of skepticism and reason could help. I already have the site, so here I am ...again.
I am hoping to couple this blog with a YouTube channel called TorahNormal. The goal is to talk about topics dealing with the paranormal, exopolitical, fake news and the like, all in the context of Torah observance. I know that it sounds like a paradoxical statement, but we're going to give it a shot.
